MacBook:Widgets

Dashboard Fun on Your Desktop

In OSX , there are tons of different widget options!

One of the big draws of OSX Tiger, in my opinion, is Dashboard. I purchased a new MacBook Pro last night, and immediately started downloading widgets to play with. My desktop is typically cluttered with all kind of different and un-necessary programs, so the widget option is great, allowing me to hide them away. So far the most useless download being a set of Christmas lights, that I can control the size, color, and twinkle of.

How many of you use widgets in Dashboard? I’ve never had Dashboard before (Still desperately holding on to my old G4 and old OS) so the novelty is still pretty new to me.

Traffic Cam Widget

Another great find in the widget department was a widget showing me the traffic cams in my area. Now instead of tuning into my local television station to find out what the traffic situation is, I can just check out my dashboard. Pretty neat.

Weather Widget

The weather widget came included in the box, which doesn’t in any way take away from its quality. I’ve already found myself checking a few times for the weather outside, or checking out the 5 day forcast. Fun Stuff.

Rubber Chicken Widget

This is perhaps my most bizarre widget download thus far. The rubber chicken widget, is essentially a magic 8 ball, that’s a rubber chicken. You can ask the rubber chicken a question, click on him, and he’ll give you an answer.

These widgets and more can be found on Apple.com!
